    Tyrosine is a type of amino acid that plays different roles in the body. It is naturally produced in the body through the conversion of another amino acid known as Phenylalanine.

    The study concluded by stating that Tyrosine may be used as a means to counteract the reduction in work performance in individuals with sleep loss.

  • GABA

    Gamma-Aminobutyric acid is also commonly referred to as GABA. This is an amino acid that is commonly found in the body. Other than being an important amino acid, it also acts as a neurotransmitter that is naturally found in the human nervous system. GABA works by inhibiting or modulating the activity of other neurotransmitters, which allows more efficient communication between different neurons.

    On the other hand, individuals who have lower levels of GABA in their bodies are more likely to suffer from Insomnia and other sleep disturbances, depression, and even anxiety. Additionally, deficiency in GABA causes anxiety, restlessness, and obsessive behavior, symptoms often seen in ADHD, which can be treated by supplementing with approved products that include adequate amounts of GABA.     This was further proven in a study from 2009, where the study participants were given chocolates containing 28 mg of GABA. The results showed that these individuals experienced a reduction in their stress levels when performing a problem-solving task. (18)

    Other than its positive effects on stress, anxiety, and fatigue, it may also be effective for sleep disturbances. This was proven in a study conducted in 2018, which showed that individuals who took 300 mg of GABA 60 minutes before going to bed were able to fall asleep faster as compared to those who did not. Moreover, the individuals also reported improvements in their overall sleep quality after taking GABA for a month. (19)
